Walking on foot is the best way to explore Nepal. However, mountain biking is the next best alternative. Ride through the waterfalls and terraced hillsides outside of the valley with splendid view of hills and mountains ever-present in the backdrop. Peddle along at your own pace through the hidden trails to visit the remote villages. For hardcore bikers, there are some of the best off-road routes in world leading to serene hidden valleys, gorges and glistening glacial lakes ever so close to the Himalayans.
Walking is the best way to explore the Himalayan country of Nepal. However, another best alternative is mountain biking. The ancient valley of Kathmandu nestled in the lap of beautiful north-central Himalayans houses some of the best routes and trails for mountain biking. The eastern valley and rim routes of Kathmandu valley are some of the best mountain biking routes in Nepal and are best explored through beautiful and historic settlements of Panauti, Dhulikhel, Bhaktapur, and Nagarkot.
We will stay in five out of total six best outlooks which offer the stunning vistas of Himalayans, from majestic Dhaulagiri in the west to the tallest peak Everest in east, and the awe-inspiring Ganesh Mountain and Jugal Mountain among other equally stunning mountains that dominate the Nepalese skyline.
The exciting and adventurous ride around the valley will take you far from the hustle of city to some of the best hill stations in the outskirts of the valley. Nagarkot and Chisapani are very famous among internal and external tourists for its skyline dominated by mountains. Along the trail, we will also be able to visit the beautiful and historic monastery of Namo Buddha. We will ride through the ancient towns of Panauti and Dhulikhel. We will be able to witness the lifestyle of one of the most famous and historically rich tribes of Nepal, the Newars. We will finish the ride in the ancient medieval city if Bhaktapur, once a prosperous kingdom. We will also be able visit the world’s tallest statue of Lord Shiva. Among the several mountain biking routes available in the country, the Kathmandu valley biking route is of moderate difficulty with many ups and downs through the hills and requires good stamina. The trail is a mix of single track, country roads, short sections, main road and jeep tracks.
In addition to ride into the nature through the lush hills, alongside the dwindling rivers and pouring streams with beautiful Himalayan vista in backdrop, we will also be able to see and experience the culture of local people in the beautiful local settlements. We will able to see the beautiful blend and harmony of culture between the predominant Newar and Tamang inhabitants in the region and the rural lifestyle far away from the modernization and chaos of the city life.
Inside the Kathmandu valley, the main historic center of Nepal, also known as the city of temples, there are countless historical and cultural monuments and several one of them are listed in UNESCO’s world heritage sites. We will ride through the beautiful courts of the Malla kings, the epitome of the unique Newari architecture, the intricately built Changunarayan temple among others.
