TRIP OVERVIEW

The land of Tibet has been a quintessential subject of fascination for over centuries. It is a land of myth and mysteries, a land rich in natural as well as cultural beauty. It is the second biggest region in China covering a total land mass of 474, 288 square miles. Tibet, also known as roof of thr world with average altitude of 4,000m borders 10 peaks above 8,000m with its Himalayan neighbor, Nepal.

The region is known throughout the world for its spellbinding mountains and retaining of centuries old mystic of Buddhism. The region is also known as “Roof of the World” due to its astounding average altitude of 4,000m. The Tibetan capital of Lhasa situated at 3,590m is the epitome of Tibet’s spirituality and culture.

Tibet is a unique destination, a perfect blend of nature’s beauty blended with culture and traditions. The centuries long abode of Dalai Lamas, in Tiber one can enjoy the beautiful region in its brown rolled hills, intricately built ornate monasteries, mystic hidden valleys, centuries old forts and caravan trials.

In our Tibet Tour Package, you can visit the epiome of Tibetan civilization, Lhasa. Our Tibetan English-speaking guides will take you to all the beautiful and historic places of the valley far away from the hustle of city to the land of wonders for a much needed break.

We will take a flight to Lhasa from Kathamandu or any other place. The Lhasa tour will begin drom Norbulingka which used to be the summer palace of the Dalai Lamas. It is now a public park where thousands of tourists flock every year to see the historic abode of the Dalai Lamas. We can have a picnic here and indulge with the friendly local people. We will also visit the Drepung Monastery which used to be the living quarters of the Dalai Lamas before Potala was made. If we come during August we can be the part of the huge Shoton Festival.  We will also visit another historic monastery of Sera, which is also a college for Buddhism educations. We can learn monks’ sutras and scriptures and witness their debates every day at 3 pm.

We will also visit the Jokhang Temple which is  the spiritual heart of the ancient Tibetan Buddhism. We will watch the religious pilgrims, beautiful Thanka workshops and local art shops. We will also visit the historic convent of Ani Tsagkhun Nunnery. The main highlight of the whole trek is the visit to Potala Palace. Here we will see ornate and exquisite murals and statues and beautiful stupas. The picture of the red and white palace under the vibrant blue skies is the iconic scene of this historic land.  The package can be tailored to cater the clients’ need. ITINERARY

DAY 01: Arrival In Kathmandu.
Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, meet, assist and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 02: Sight seeing tour In Kathmandu
After breakfast at the hotel, sightseeing tours of Pashupatinath temple, Baudhanath Stupa, Shoyambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Squire. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03: KATHMANDU (1300M)- TSEDANG (3650M)
Fly (1hr.) to LHASA over crossing the highest Himalayan ranges of the world. Transfer to TSEDANG with a scenic drive along the Brahmaputra river (95 KM)(2 hrs) and check-in to HTL TSEDANG. Full rest for acclimatization.

DAY 04: IN TSEDANG
AM: Visit YUMBULAKHANG with a mild walk uphill to the temple & THANDRUK MONASTERY on your back. PM: Visit Tibetan bazaar. HTL TSEDANG

DAY 05: TSEDANG – SAMYE – LHASA: 250 KM
Drive to SAMYE & explore the oldest monastery in Tibet: SAMYE MONASTERY with a mild walk in and around the monastery – Continue drive to LHASA (3650M) (5-6 HRS) – Over night hotel in LHASA.

DAY 06: IN LHASA
AM: Visit POTALA PALACE. PM: Visit JOKHANG TEMPLE & BARKHOR BAZAAR – HTL LHASA.

DAY 07: IN LHASA
AM: Visit DREPUNG MONASTERY. PM: Visit SERRA MONASTERY. HTL LHASA

DAY 08: IN LHASA
AM: Visit NORBULINKA. PM: Visit TIBETAN NUNNERY. – HTL LHASA

DAY 09: LHASA – GANDEN – LHASA: 60 KM
Full day excursion to GANDEN and visit GANDEN MONASTERY – Drive back to LHASA – HTL in LHASA

DAY 10: LHASA – GYANTSE (3,950M) : 261 KM
Scenic drive to GYANTSE via YAMADROKE LAKE (Turquoise Lake) over crossing two high passes KAROLA (5,010M) & KAMBALA (4,794M) .Visit to the KUMBUM STUPA & PHALKOR MONASTERY. PM: Visit GYANTSE DZONG – and overnight in Gyantse.

DAY 11: IN GYANTSE – XIGATSE (3,900M): 90 KM
AM: Visit to the KUMBUM STUPA & PHALKOR MONASTERY. Then, scenic drive to XIGATSE with a visit to SHALU MONASTERY through the typical Tibetan villages on the way .Visit the PANCHEN LAMA’S TASHILHUMPU MONASTERY. Overnight hotel in XIGATSE

DAY 12: XIGATSE – XEGAR (4350M): 244 KM
Picturesque drive to XEGAR by over crossing the high pass GYTSO LA (5220M) – HTL XEGAR

DAY 13: XEGAR – ZHANGMU (2300M): 244 KM
Scenic drive via NYALAMU PASS (4800M) with an opportunity to see MT SHISHAPAGMA, MTCHO OYU, MT EVEREST from the NYALAM PASS ( weather permitting) and continue downhill drive to ZHANGMU – HTL ZHANGMU.

DAY 14: ZHAMGU – KATHMANDU (1300M): 130 KM
After necessary border formalities, continue drive to KATHMANDU through the scenic Nepalese countryside – Transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 15: Kathmandu
Free day in Kathmandu. Overnight hotel in Kathmandu.

Day 16: Departure
