The region is also known as “Roof of the World” due to its astounding average altitude of 4,000m. The Tibetan capital of Lhasa situated at 3,590m is the epitome of Tibet’s spirituality and culture.
The Lhasa and Everest Base Camp trip is a timeless trek route for alpine lovers all over the world. For trekkers who are not comfortable with high altitude treks, this is an optimum trek which covers all the main tourist sites in region like Shigatse, Tashi Lhunpho monastery, Jokhang Temple, Potala Palace and Gyantse Kumbum. The overland route linking Lhasa to Mount Everest (8,848m) is one of the most amazing trekking routes in Himalayans. It covers the total distance of 800km and takes us from the Tibetan capital of Lhasa to the civilizations at highest altitude, pristine lakes and glaciers, and ultimately to the base of highest peak in the world.
The trip covers the historic Tibetan towns like Gyantse, Shigatse anf Rongbuk. These towns have retained the ancient Buddhism for centuries which have been virtually unchanged. A cultural trek through these towns will provide trekkers with the cultural insights of the most pure form of Buddhism in the planet and how the people have sustained for hundreds of years in the most adverse of terrains. Visitors will also get the chance of visiting historic landmarks like His Holiness Dalai Lama’s Potala, Norbulingka Palaces, Barkhor Bazaar, Gyantse Dzong and the Tibet traditional hospital. The visitors will also be rewarded with visits to the magnificent Tibetan monasteries like Sakya, Phalkot, Khumbum Stupa, and Rongbuk which will leave its visitors spellbound.
On the way to Everest Base Camp situated at 17,060 feet the visitors will have to cross the thrilling Gampa La Pass at 4,794m. We will also come across the beautiful emerald lakes like Lake Yamdrok and glistening glaciers like Karo La. A trek to Everest Base Camp will grant you the most splendid views of Eastern Himalayans on both Tibetan and Nepali side. Along with the closest view of the northern face of the Mt. Everest, trekkers will be able to witness 4 other highest peaks in the world soaring in the sky like Kanchenjunga, Mt. Cho Oyu and Mt. Manaslu.
The trip will end with a flight back to your home country or next destination from Lhasa Airport.
Spring (April and May), autumn (September, October and November), and summer ((June, July and August) are the most suitable time to arrange a trip. It is also possible to arrange the trip in winter but due to extreme cold climate of the Himalayans it is advised not to.
DAY 01: Arrival In Kathmandu.
Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, meet, assist and transfer to hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 02: Sight seeing tour In Kathmandu
After breakfast at the hotel, sightseeing tours of Pashupatinath temple, Baudhanath Stupa, Shoyambhunath Stupa and Kathmandu Durbar Squire. Overnight hotel in Kathmandu.
DAY 03: KATHMANDU – LHASA (3,650 m)
Transfer to airport. Fly (1 hr) to LHASA.. Transfer to LHASA (1 hr) through the new tunnel and check-in to HTL. Full rest for acclimatization.
DAY 04: IN LHASA
AM: Visit POTALA PALACE. PM: Visit JOKHANG TEMPLE & BARKHOR BAZAAR – HTL

AM: Visit to the KUMBUM STUPA & PHALKOR MONASTERY. PM: Drive to XIGATSE and visit the PANCHEN LAMA’S TASHILHUMPU MONASTERY – HTL
DAY 08: XIGATSE – NEW TINGRI (4150 m)/OLD TIGRI (4,200 m): 244 KM/305 KM
Picturesque drive to NEW TINGRI (XEGAR)/OLD TINGRI by over crossing the high pass GYTSO LA (5220 m) – HTL.
DAY 09: NEW TINGRI/OLD TINGRI – RONBUK (4900 m): 125 KM
Scenic drive to RONBUK via PANG LA along the typical Tibetan landscape – Guest house in RONBUK
DAY 10: RONBUK – EVEREST BC – RONBUK: 8 X 8 KM
Rent a horse cart or trek to EVEREST BC and explore BC and back to RONBUK – Guest house.
Tibet EBC TourDay 11: RONBUK – ZHANGMU (2300 m): 265 KM
Scenic drive via OLD TINGRI and LALUNG LA (Pass of 5,050 M) with an opportunity to see MT SHISHAPAGMA & MT CHO OYU (weather permitting) and continue downhill drive to ZHANGMU (border town) through the amazing landscape which reveals the secrets of the wonderful formation of the Tibetan plateau – HTL.
DAY 12 : ZHANGMU – KATHMANDU (1300M): 123 KM
After necessary border formalities at ZHANGMU (Chinese immigration) and Kodari (Nepali immigration), scenic drive to KATHMANDU through the scenic Nepalese countryside – Transfer to your hotel. Overnight in the hotel.
Day 13: Kathmandu
Free day in Kathmandu. Overnight hotel in Kathmandu.
Day 14: Departure
Departure from Kathmandu
