TRIP OVERVIEW

The foothills of Annapurna is one of the most popular and beautiful trekking routes in the whole planet. The Annapurna region lies on the north-western side of Nepal and is characterised by contrast as the region includes county’s windiest, driest, and wettest regions. The region was opened to trekkers only in 1977 and falls largely under Annapurna Conservation Area contributing to protecting the region in its entire wilderness.  Every year trekkers flock to the region for a once in a lifetime trekking opportunity and the regions have trekking routes for all kinds of trekkers varying from professional trekkers to recreational trekkers.

The Annapurna poon hill trek is undoubtedly a trekker’s paradise as it offers the most splendid altitude range and a temperate blend of climate with the scenery of awe-inspiring mountains in the backdrop. The trek is also popularly known as Annapurna Panorama trek as it provides visitors with the most panoramic views of Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m), Annapurna I (8091m), Machhapuchhre (6993m), Manaslu (8157m) and other equally gratifying peaks. From the Poonhill viewpoint, trekkers can also have the view of the mystic Kali Gandaki gorge which is the deepest in the whole world.

The area is largely protected under Annapurna Conservation Area, one of the finest in the country and the trekkers can have a sighting of rare and exotic Himalayan flora and faunas such as snow leopard, musk deer, Himalayan wild yaks and giant panda.

Another highlight of the trek is the viewers will be able to witness and experiences the lifestyle and culture of the indigenous Gurung people, who are famed around the world for their bravery and are known as Gurkhas. The beautiful wood and mud houses, wooden porches, the intricate festivals and traditions will provide a rare glimpse of the remote Himalayan people to the trekkers.

The introductory and short Annapurna panorama trek is appropriate for family holidays and is even suitable for young children. The 5 days trek can be customised as per the needs of clients and can be extended into other activities like rafting in Seti river, jungle safari in Chitwan and so on.

The trip starts and ends from Pokhara, the lake city which is a famous tourist destination in itself. We will spend two nights in Pokhara and can visit beautiful lakes of Phewa, Rupa and Begnas and indulge in the memorable adventures like paragliding, zip flying,  and canoeing. The trekking trail is dotted with numerous inns and hotels and trekkers can end the night comfortably in the inns’ comfort after a long day of the trek.

The most suitable time for Annapurna Poonhill trek is autumn (October and November) and spring (April and May). The months are chosen on the basis of climate and visibility. It is possible to trek in the winter months as well but there are good chances of heavy snowfall. Our itinerary has been designed by a team of professional mountaineers and guides keeping in mind the time required for acclimatisation, climate, and visibility among others.
