TRIP OVERVIEW

Annapurna Circuit Trekking is often known as the best trekking route in the Himalayas. Annapurna region situated on the north-western side of Nepal is characterised by contrasts as the region includes the driest, windiest and wettest regions of the country. Annapurna Circuit Trek was only opened in 1977 AD, thus natural beauty and wilderness are still intact in the purest form.

Annapurna Circuit Trek is three weeks long trek starting from the small town of Besishahar alongside the banks of Marshyangdi River and in the laps of eastern peaks Mt. Manaslu and Himchuli. As we ascend through Besishahar, we will trek through different villages in high hills that have retained their exotic culture and tradition for centuries. We will also be able to see the splendid western mountain ranges like Annapurna, Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri. We will trek northward towards the arid Tibetan plateau surrounded by mountains in the southern region. From there we will cross the magnificent Thorong La Pass, which is the highest point of the mystic valley at 5,416m. While crossing the Thorong La Pass, the entire Annapurna range is visible along with other equally enchanting peaks like Gangapurna, Yak Gawa, Thorungtse, and Dhaulagiri (8,167m) which is the main highlight of the Annapurna Circuit Trek.

We will also visit the famed regions of Manang and Mustang, the most popular trekking destination for internal and external tourists alike.  The beautiful district of Manang houses many pristine lakes including the Tilicho Lake at 4,919m and we will be able to witness the rich culture Gurungs practice of ancient Buddhism influenced heavily by Tibetan culture. Mustang district lies beyond the Himalayans and is a land of contrast as the soaring silver peaks look down upon the dry desert-like terrain of the regions alongside the banks of Kali Gandaki River. While in Mustang, we will visit the historically and culturally eminent temple of Muktinath situated in the driest of terrains in the lap of Mt. Dhaulagiri and the Kali Gandaki Gorge,  the deepest in the world. We will be able to experience the unique culture of the Thakali people, the indigenous group of the region.

The trip starts from Pokhara, the lake city which is a famous tourist destination in itself. We can visit beautiful lakes of Phewa, Rupa and Begnas and indulge in the memorable adventures like paragliding, zip flying,  and canoeing.  The trek ends at Mustang’s headquarter Jomsom where trekkers can bid farewell to the region with a sip of region’s famous apple brandy.

The most suitable time for Annapurna Circuit Trek is autumn (October and November) and spring (April and May). The months are chosen on the basis of climate and visibility. Winter months are not advised since there is a good chance of heavy snowfall. Our itinerary has been designed by a team of professional mountaineers and guides keeping in mind the time required for acclimatization, climate, and visibility among others.
